The Hervey Bay Sailing Club was established in 1968 and for the first 6 years the club house was a tent erected on the beach on a Sunday during the sailing season.
In 1974 the club house construction was started and finished in 1977 in time for the club to host Australian Catamaran Week – an event that attracted over 250 catamarans.
The Hervey Bay Sailing Club in this time has hosted numerous State & National titles for a wide range of off the beach monohull and catamaran classes which have all been highly successful events both on & off the water. HBSC continues to conduct the Annual Bay to Bay Race for trailable yachts, now in its 37th year and attracting over 150 boats each year for a 2 day 70km passage race along the beautiful Sandy Straits between Tin Can Bay and Hervey Bay.
The club also hosted the first World Championships for the Nacra Class in 90/91.
With a proud history in hosting events and a reputation for excellence in race management with sailors across Australia the Hervey Bay Sailing Club looks forward to welcoming sailors, their families, friends and supporters to Hervey Bay for the 2018 World A Cat Championships.
